Can participants change elections during the plan year?
Elections can only be changed if an employee experiences a qualified change of status as defined by the IRS and outlined in the plan’s Summary Plan Description (SPD). Employees should see their Human Resources Department for a copy of the SPD and to submit a qualified change of status request in order to change their election.
Can terminated employees still file FSA claims?
If a participant terminates participation in the Health Care or Dependent Care FSAs at any time during the year, they may submit a claim for reimbursement of eligible health care expenses after their participation ends. The expenses must have been incurred prior to termination of their plan participation and the claim must be submitted for reimbursement within the the period defined by the Company’s SPD
